佛教是將整個東亞世界結合在一起的精神紐帶，這個由佛教所構成的網絡之中匯聚了眾多獨立而又相互影響的世界觀與宇宙觀，並且對於東亞世俗與宗教世界的構建起到了精神上的支持。東亞佛教與世界建構一直是一個長盛不衰的學術探討話題，它激發著一代又一代學者重新研究傳統在塑造世界視野方面的洞見。通過這個契機，我們不僅揭示和深化了對此一“佛教-世俗體系”的深入解讀，同時也對理解當代世界提供一個來自古代的視角。
2021年8月10日至16日，得到旭日全球佛學網絡的鼎力支持下，“拔地入雲：佛教與東亞宗教”項目與美國哈佛大學共同舉辦了“東亞佛教與世界建構”國際學術研討會，此次會議提供了一個交叉學科的溝通與研究平臺。英屬哥倫比亞大學的陳金華教授與美國哈佛大學的汪悅進教授根據本次會議的參會論文，共同編纂了此論文集。
